We’ve been going through our voluminous photo collection from almost 20 years of Puerto Morelos history. For the next few Thursdays, we’ll share some of them with you.

For this edition, we go way back to when we first arrived in Puerto Morelos.

This is a view looking north, towards Cancun back in 2002. A few resorts have been built since this photo was taken.
This apparently abandoned resort was north of town back in 2002.
Back in 2003, the Pelicanos pier was a little longer and had two parts.

Another view of the Pelicanos Pier from 2003.
Our first fishing tournament in 2003. We could not believe how our sleepy village came alive for the annual tournament in May. So many people and boats!
This was our greeting back to our friends in Canada for our first Christmas in Puerto Morelos. I cannot explain my hair, except that it WAS very windy and I had not found a local barber yet. I can tell you that we were delighted to spend Christmas in our new town, without snow!

We hope you enjoyed our trip down memory lane. We’ll post another set of photos next Thursday.
